Indigenous Peoples Experience - Fort Edmonton Park

Evert Poor is a member of the Tootinaowaxiibeng (Valley River) First Nation of the Saulteaux people or plains Ojibway of Southern Manitoba.  He is a Sherwood Park resident where he and his wife Gisele raised their five children.  

Evert retired from TELUS after a forty-year career holding leadership positions in Marketing, Sales and Operations in the telecommunications industry.  Including six years working across Canada for the Stentor Resource Group as a Small Business market planner and service developer. Evert also worked in the Broadcast industry after attending Mount Royal College Radio and Television Arts program.  

Evert has extensive volunteer experience sitting on the Alberta Historical Resource Foundation and currently holds positions on the Alberta Archaeology Society Edmonton Chapter; Aksis – Edmonton Indigenous Business and Professional Association; Edmonton Business Diversity Network and the Research Ethics Board at Grant McEwan University. 

Evert is a long-time volunteer at Fort Edmonton Park.  Having spent twenty years as a costumed volunteer. He recently came out of retirement to undertake the role of Indigenous Narrative Supervisor in the Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park.  He is also responsible for the support of all Indigenous Peoples Interpreters within Fort Edmonton Park.
